History
Karlsborgs Fortress Museum was initiated 1962 by Colonel Ingmar Bratt. The Museum is run by a non-profit association with the name "Carlsborgs museiförening" and is a part of SMHA Swedish Military Heritage. SMHA is a network of 27 specially selected museums throughout Sweden. The museums exhibitions have two focuses: The History of the karlsborgs Fortress and the history of the Cavalry. In addition, the muesum showcases civilian developments in Karlsborg, aviation and more.
In the museum you can follow the story the marketplace that became Swedens reserve capital city. here we showcase uniforms, weapons, models, objects from all the units which was situated in Karlsborg.
The museum is divided into two sections the Fortress Section and the Cavalry Section. On the top floor of the museum is the Garrison Church.
